Missional Confession
Christ is the foundation of everything about me. I am committed to Alive in order to become more and more like Jesus in every area of my life; meaning:
I am CONNECTING with Christ and others by developing authentic relationships with Christ and my community, for the sake of the gospel.
I am GROWING in grace and knowledge, increasingly being conformed to his likeness; knowing that because He loved me first, I must love others.
I am intentionally GOING into my communities, sharing their burdens in order to bring LIFE.
Missional Practices
I am in the Word, gaining a reformed identity in Christ by the work of the Holy Spirit who lives in me, keeping me in step with His will.
I am surrendered to Jesus as the Lord of my life, trusting him with all my heart, thirsty for all that he is, becoming like him; being transformed & aligning my will to his. As I grow in his love and discover how much he loves me, I will love him and love others, even more.
I am not satisfied with being static. I am on the move and bearing fruit by seeking opportunities to build genuine relationships with the people God has placed in my life; engaging the needs I see around me, with flexibility and spiritual vitality.
I am engaged willingly in the mission of Alive in both the congregation and in our communities.
I am generous in using my gifts, time, talents and finances; invested in the lives of others, with prayer, care, and sharing what God is doing in my life.
I seek to serve, rather than to be served; surrendered for the sake of the gospel, and blessed to be a blessing, fed to feed others, and loved to love others.
I live my life on purpose, in an intentional pursuit of God’s plans for me in this world so that anyone might be saved, too.
Missional Scriptures
Romans 8:29 | For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers and sisters.
John 15:5 | “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.
2 Peter 3:18 | But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.
John 10:10 | The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.
Romans 12:1-2 | Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
Romans 12:3-5 | For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others.
Philippians 3:7-11 | But whatever were gains to me I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. What is more, I consider everything a loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them garbage, that I may gain Christ and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God on the basis of faith. I want to know Christ—yes, to know the power of his resurrection and participation in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, attaining to the resurrection from the dead.
Galatians 6:2 | Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.
Hebrews 10:24 | And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds…
John 13:34-35 | “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”
1 Corinthians 9:19-23 | Though I am free and belong to no one, I have made myself a slave to everyone, to win as many as possible. To the Jews I became like a Jew, to win the Jews. To those under the law I became like one under the law (though I myself am not under the law), so as to win those under the law. To those not having the law I became like one not having the law (though I am not free from God’s law but am under Christ’s law), so as to win those not having the law. To the weak I became weak, to win the weak. I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some. I do all this for the sake of the gospel, that I may share in its blessings.
Philippians 2:1-8 | Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus:
Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death— even death on a cross!
Luke 9:23-26, 62 | Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me. For whoever wants to save their life will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will save it. What good is it for someone to gain the whole world, and yet lose or forfeit their very self? Whoever is ashamed of me and my words, the Son of Man will be ashamed of them when he comes in his glory and in the glory of the Father and of the holy Angels.
Jesus replied, “No one who puts a hand to the plow and looks back is fit for service in the kingdom of God.”
Matthew 28:18-20 | Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”
Acts 17:25b-27 | Rather, he himself gives everyone life and breath and everything else. From one man he made all the nations, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he marked out their appointed times in history and the boundaries of their lands. God did this so that they would seek him and perhaps reach out for him and find him, though he is not far from any one of us.
