Our prayers, and our help, are going out to those affected by the recent hurricanes and flooding. Many churches have been affected, as well as many of their neighbors. It is our goal to help equip those local churches to bring LIFE to their communities, by helping resource them with funding and supplies to meet the needs they are able to address.

We have been in direct communication with our denominational agency, World Renew, the local deacons group over Houston CRC’s, and with one local church in particular — New Life. These groups have helped us discern how best to respond, in both immediate and long term ways. Currently, managing supplies—and getting good supplies—are their own issue, and are not the most pressing need from us at Alive. But financial donations tangibly power the local church and agencies to do ministry in their communities

Eventually, there may be a time to respond with physical gifts of supplies and/or service—maybe even to go to a disaster location. In the meantime, please contact Terry with any developments that we could collaborate on.

Let’s join our voices together in prayer for local, regional, corporate, and personal ways to respond to those in great need. See below for ways to connect in donations and prayers.

You may be considering a donation, or have already made a donation to a relief agency. Thank you for that. We have been praying with you that your gifts may go out in Jesus’ name to those people in those places where the greatest needs are.

God bless you, and the church, to rise up and bring LIFE—in Houston, in Florida, in our hearts, too. Grace and Peace.

for the leadership of Alive,

Ways to help

  • Give to alive

    We'll match your donation

Alive has felt called to help with the disaster response in Houston. Depending on needs, the funds may be directed to the deaconal agency or directed to the local church, New Life. If you would like to donate to this campaign, Alive will match up to $7,000 in donations given until October 31, 2017.

You can donate to this matching campaign in one of two ways:

    1. Bring cash or check to 263 and place in the green boxes. Please note on the envelope or in the memo line of your check — “Hurricane Relief.”
    2. Through InFellowship, look for the “Hurricane Relief” button to give directly to this account. Contact Terry if you have any questions.
  • GIVE TO new life church

    in houston

Pastor Andy Sytsma is the lead pastor of New Life, and also the cluster leader for church planters in the area. He has his finger on the pulse, and is bringing LIFE to his community. Alive’s matching funds, and funds from Volunteers in Action, will also help support New Life CRC. If you want direct and up-to-date info from New Life, check out their Facebook page, their website, and this response letter

  • GIVE TO Volunteers in action

the agency for the CRC deacons of the Rocky Mountain Classis

Headquartered in Denver, Volunteers in Action (VIA) will replenish the coffers of the local churches and church plants that are directly involved in the hurricane relief efforts in the Houston area. I spoke with the director; here’s a note from him:

If your church is interested in directly supporting the Houston CRC churches and church plants, Volunteers in Action is serving as the conduit for funds to be sent to and divided among the Benevolence Funds of Hope, Peace, New Life churches, and the [Houston] church plants.

If you would like to participate directly, checks can be sent to Volunteers in Action, 9185 East Kenyon Ave., #130, Denver, CO 80237 with a memo or note for “Houston Church flooding-Benevolence support”. 100% of the funds will be passed on [to the local church].

Thanks for your care and support! Donn Hansum, Director | 303.713.9144
